Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Towns (SMBBT) - Non IT Scheme of Board of Revenue, Sindh

Government of Sindh included the scheme under Special Initiative Unit in its Annual Development Plan 2011-12 i.e. “Development of Townships in Major Urban Centers (50,000 Nos.) 120-Sqyds plots with all Civic Services” under President’s Directives.

The Director General, LDA was given additional charge of the Project Director, SMBBT, BOR, GOS for accomplishing task of allotments of plots free of cost to the poorest of the poor in 23-districts & 46-towns/cities of Sindh.

The tentative outlay of the scheme was kept at Rs.5,000 Million spanning over a three years development period i.e 2011-12 to 2013-14.

The Finance Department, GOS has released funds of Rs.150 Million on 1st June, 2012, which were fully utilized on consultancy services, infrastructure development & outer development works of the scheme.

The Modified PC-1 envisaged 40658-Nos. of plots on around 1955-acres of land based on criteria of 20-plots/acres.

Minimum width of internal roads is kept as 30-feet so as to provide adequate access from town planning point of view and space for utility services.

M/s Engineering Associates Consulting (Pvt.) Ltd, Karachi is carrying out surveys, planning, engineering design and construction supervision of the scheme appointed under SPPRA-2010.

The scheme has already been undertaken at the following:-

    • Karachi: 500-acres (Additional 500-acres have been added at SMBBT-Karachi scheme)
    • Hyderabad: 300-acres
    • Thatta: 51-acres
    • Jamshoro: 80-acres
    • Dadu: 51-acres
    • Benazirabad: 40-acres
    • Sukkur: 47-acres
    • Shikarpur: 170-acres
    • Tando Mohammad Khan: 20-acres
    • Ghotki: 64-acres
    • Total: 1323-acres

Note:

- Planning & Development of 26460-Nos. approximately have already been undertaken.

- Presently, 10000 plots at Karachi and about 7400-plots at Hyderabad, Thatta (Makkli & Sujawal), Jamshoro (Kotri) & Tando Mohammad Khan are available for allotment among the poorest of poor.
